Mike Ditka Resorts?
July 11, 2007 · Leave a Comment
It seems two Mike Ditka Resorts are opening in Orlando, FL (well one is a resort and the other seems to be a condo-tel). Visiting each each resort website (Lighthouse Key, Runaway Beach Club) offers the usual information, amenities, accommodations. The big thing I’m noticing is that a majority of the pictures seem to be using the magic of computer animation. Also each website has the following near the bottom of each page “The use of Mike Ditka’s name is not to imply that he has ownership interest in the hotel and is used in pursuant to a licensing arrangement.”, so out of all the people in the world, the owners of these resort licensed Mike Ditka’s name? I’m sure he’s a great person and all, and a great coach, but…Mike Ditka? That’ll drive the folks to sunny Florida.

Resort in Maldives to go Green
July 6, 2007 · Leave a Comment
The sixty five villa Soneva Fushi resort in the Maldives has announced that it plans to go completely carbon free by 2010. Part of the “Six Senses Zero Emissions Objective”, Soneva Fushi plans on using local materials for building, organic gardens for food resources, and harvesting it’s energy from solar, wind and tidal power.

Future possibilities that are being considered for the 2010 zero carbon emission goal are the installation of a large wind turbine on the neighbouring island of Eydhafushi that could generate energy for the resort while also supporting the community of that island as well. Solar, tidal and wave technologies which could also be used as an asset for generating power, heat, and steam/cooling for air-conditioning are also being considered.
In summation, in its quest for integrated and sustainable energy management, Six Senses Resorts & Spas is dedicated to energy innovations that will enrich and sustain the environment. Its flagship resort – Soneva Fushi – is the initial proving ground.
